Commercially Useful Trees of the Lancetilla Botanical Garden
Due to it’s relationship with the National School of Forest Sciences (ESNACIFOR), in the Botanical Garden is a sample collection of tee species, which are commercially useful around the world.
From the beginning, one of the intentions of Lancetilla was to have a collection of species of trees from around the world. As a result, several experimental plantations of commercially viable species were made. Today the garden has more than 350 hectares of experimental plantations of different species from commercially useful trees worldwide. Some of these are used as sources of seeds for replantation projects.
The monitoring and study of the trees in the plantations are one of the activities of the Research Program.
Next is a list of the commercially important species that exist in the Botanical Garden. From this technical data of each species one can find not just the tree structure, but also the leaf, and in some cases the fruit and a sample of the bark .
